Butten Meadow, Austerfield

A young servant named William Butten did not survive the voyage of the Mayflower.

Butten died within sight of land and was destined to be forgotten by history if not for the naming of ‘Button Meadow’ in Austerfield, along with its large blue and white Delft-tiled commemorative plaque celebrating the Mayflower’s journey.

This site offers an ideal photo opportunity for small groups of visitors only, being mindful that this is a quiet residential road.
