The official Mayflower 400 commemorations are an exciting year-long programme of ambitious cultural and artistic events.
Dazzling lights shows, unforgettable festivals and world class events will captivate a memorable 12 months of commemoration from November 2019, as the nation marks the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower.
The Pilgrims' enterprising spirit will run through a bold year-long programme - from vibrant community attractions to breathtaking large-scale festivals - a truly global moment in history as we recognise the enormous impact the iconic Mayflower voyage had on the world.
Highlights include the Mayflower Muster in Plymouth, a nine-day festival incorporating the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower’s departure from the seafaring city in September 2020. There will be spectacular displays and a huge range activities with support from the city’s Armed Forces.
The year-long programme begins with the stunning Illuminate festival of thanksgiving and light in November 2019 and culminates with the Illuminate festival the following November in 2020.

In the build-up to the anniversary year there will be various cultural and artistic events taking place across the key Mayflower locations, such as Southampton and Harwich.
The Illuminate festival will also take place in November each year and in November 2020 it will make the end of the commemoration events with the international Mayflower 400 closing ceremony.
