A Gloucestershire-based tourism company is in the running to be named one of the best rural businesses in the UK.

Uncover Britain Road Trips - whose Mayflower Footsteps & Roots Road Trip Tour offers the opportunity to uncover the full Mayflower story - has been shortlisted for a South West regional Rural Business Award for Best Rural Tourism Business.

The leading firm will battle it out against fellow rural businesses, entrepreneurs and enterprises from across the region for a place at the national final.

The regional final will be held virtually in October 2021, with the National Final taking place early next year.

Uncover Britain Road Trips was launched during the pandemic with the intent of providing inspiration, know-how, tops tips and hidden gems as themed guides for those new to campervanning and motorhoming as well experienced road-trippers looking for new ideas.

It is designed to help you make the most out of a staycation, providing a fully-flexible solution and ensuring your road trip is stress-free.

Uncover Britain Road Trips is based in rural Gloucestershire and currently offers guides around the South West, south coast and Midlands. The team are also looking to expand.

The Rural Business Awards 2021/2022, in partnership with Amazon, will mark the seventh year of celebrating the success of businesses across the UK’s rural economy.

The Awards are organised by rural business for rural business with the aim of celebrating the achievements of rural businesses and developing a strong network for rural business owners.

Annah Todman, from Uncover Britain Road Trips, said: "We're thrilled that our road trip guides are recognised in the Rural Business Awards as we are passionate about shining a light on the hundreds of fantastic leisure and tourism businesses that we have cherry-picked to be shared in our guides.

"Weaved together with a narrative, our guides provides a deeper connection for road trippers and support and champions a huge variety of business."

Jemma Clifford, director and co-founder of The Rural Business Awards, added: "We are excited to celebrate the 2021/2022 awards after such a challenging year for businesses.

"We are passionate about creating a nurturing environment where rural businesses can develop, and this starts by showcasing the great work they do.

"On behalf of everyone at the Rural Business Awards, we want to say well done to Uncover Britain Road Trips and wish them luck ahead of the regional finals."

The Rural Business Awards is the brainchild of Leicestershire businesswomen Anna Price and Jemma Clifford, who wanted to showcase the wealth of entrepreneurial talent in rural areas of Britain.

A series of regional finals will be hosted in the North, East, Midlands, South West, Wales and Northern Ireland, throughout October 2021, ahead of the National Final next February.
