Argyle Community Trust has launched its first Couch to 5K programme as part of the Mayflower 400: Get Active campaign.
For nine weeks, the plan is broken down to three days. For day one each week you will be supported by an Argyle Community Trust staff member at Central Park, while days two and three will be an individually-led session.
At the end of the nine-week programme, you will take part in a 5K run at Central Park in small groups and each be rewarded with a certificate on completion.
Couch to 5K is a running plan for beginners or individuals wanting to get back into running.
Josh Clark developed the concept as he wanted to help his 50-year-old mum to get off the couch and start running.
The plan involves three runs a week with a different schedule for each of the nine weeks.
Often, when trying to get into exercise, we can overdo it, feel defeated and give up when we're just getting started.
Couch to 5K begins with a mix of running and walking to gradually build up your fitness and stamina.
For example, week one involves running for a minute at a time which creates realistic expectations, making it feel achievable right from the beginning.
Whether you've never run before or if you just want to get more active, Couch to 5K is a free and easy way to get fitter and healthier.
