Black Belt Eagle Scout Exclusive Video Release

Settlement, as part of Mayflower 400, has launched the latest Red Brigade Films spotlight: Black Belt Eagle Scout (BBES).

Watch the short film here.

This tender sound-based short documentary features songwriter and musician Katherine Paul (KP), AKA Black Belt Eagle Scout, accompanied by Camas Logue (BBES live performance drums/guitar) as they shelter in place on KP’s ancestral lands of Swinomish Territory in the Pacific Northwest.

This dream-like short film focuses on land and song to invite reflections on connection and awareness to place.

Director Razelle Benally witnesses BBES with the land, reminding us all to remain reverent of and present with the place we are at this time. To find peace in song and community where possible, to remain grounded.

Despite our continued struggles on a global scale, due to the pandemic, music will continue to lead us back to the natural environment, if we remember how to be present with our songs.

Settlement is a year-long Indigenous Digital Occupation featuring online artworks, performances, artist discussions, social engagements, and films.

Presented for one year, this new work invites global audiences to have meaningful interaction with the Indigenous people of North America and the Pacific.
