Illuminate Plymouth

Due to the ongoing challenges of Covid-19, organisers have made the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Illuminate light festival, planned for November.

The spectacular light festival, which transforms Royal William Yard through light art installations and projection mapping, will now take place from 18-21 February 2021.

Organisers explored all sorts of ways to make the festival as safe as possible, but in the end have decided that the potential risk to visitors, artists and crew is too high to responsibly go ahead as planned in November 2020.

In times of such unprecedented uncertainty, postponement is the only viable option.

While organisers are obviously disappointed that they won’t be delivering the event in November, they also see this as an opportunity – to create a spectacular audience experience in the spring time and further work supporting established, emerging and student artists, which are at the core of the festival.

Illuminate plays a significant role in Plymouth’s creative economy, creating work opportunities for the city’s creative talent as well as delivering a spectacular audience experience which is loved by audiences annually.

Organisers will continue to monitor government guidance closely and work with their fantastic team and local partners to ensure the next Illuminate is a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
