The Imagination Museum

In The Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400, three eccentric tour guides will lead you on a danced history tour, using movement, text and music to explore what it was really like for many of the passengers who undertook a historic journey from England to America aboard the Mayflower in 1620.

Playful, imaginative and moving, The Imagination Museum is a performance about determination and the extraordinary things that it makes ordinary people do.

The Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400 project is a three-year project using dance and heritage to provide meaningful cultural experiences and develop new, and more diverse, audiences. Produced by contemporary dance company Made by Katie Green, and building on the company’s previous Imagination Museum project, it will be presented across at least 20 heritage sites, museums, schools, churches and community centres from November 2018 – October 2020. The project is being delivered in partnership with three Hubs (Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire – the ‘Pilgrim Roots’ Hub; Hampshire and Plymouth) that are significant to the story of the Mayflower passengers who sailed from England to America in September 1620.

The Imagination Museum: Mayflower 400 project is produced by Made By Katie Green, supported financially using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England as part of the Strategic Touring programme, Hampshire Cultural Trust, The Box, West Lindsey, Plymouth, Nottinghamshire County and Bassetlaw District Councils and Surf the Wave, and also delivered in partnership with the Pilgrim Roots Regional Partnership, Transported, The Point, Plymouth Dance and Plymouth Culture.
