A symbolic lantern procession will mark the start of Illuminate Rotherhithe this November as the community honours its history with a series of free events.
On Thursday 22nd November, a lantern procession will leave Mayflower Park at 5pm and arrive at St Peter’s and the Guardian Angels church in King’s Stairs gardens.
The Illuminate show at 7.30pm will this year focus on the role of women in the Mayflower voyage. The free festival will continue with a concert by the Citizens of the World Choir. On Saturday 24th there will be a family Barn Dance with The Ceilidh Tree and a staging of the 1630’s Venetian comic opera ‘The Hospital’ by young local home-grown company Musica Antica Rotherhithe.
On Sunday 25th screenings of ‘The Pilgrims’; and Ai Wei Wei’s ‘Human Flow’ at Sands film cinema, and ‘Artisact Artists’ takes place at Canada Water Library on Monday 26th.
